Operating out of Las Vegas, a city more famous for its casinos and showgirls than its literary community, is not a problem for author, journalist, poet, and screenwriter KHALILAH YASMIN.

Blessed with covergirl looks and a modelling CV that includes runway, billboard, print, and television appearances, Yasmin has been painting pictures with words from a very young age.

“I create images with words” she says. “There’s a way to say things that can open the minds of others or, if anything, just make them consider something they may not have otherwise been exposed to.”

A born writer with a vocation for story telling that showed up when she was just a toddler, Yasmin’s mother remembers her little girl scribbling on paper and “reading” her scribbles to anyone who would listen. In college, she consciously altered her writing style, aiming for maximum impact to augment the creative writing flair she had already developed.

Before finishing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she was named Editor-In-Chief of VERTICAL ART AND FITNESS MAGAZINE. She also hosts a popular online blog of poetry, short stories, observations and random witticisms, and is putting the finishing touches on her debut screenplay, all while developing other long-form works.

Off to a fast start in 2016, Yasmin’s radiant profile and electric smile are now shining from billboards all over the city of lights. She can also be seen on TV commercials for local and national clients, in personal appearances, in magazines and on-line programming, as well as performing her poetry at a variety of spoken word venues throughout the city.
