“Monster”

“Let the Monster Out” © 2008 Khalilah-Yasmin

Dear Young Woman, beautiful in and out,
forgot what TRUE LOVE was all about…
He hurt you, thru his screams, and sometimes he’d shout.
He’d slam the doors, with accusations all about.
Starting arguments with you  just so he could cheat,
While you waited at home, with no food to eat.
Within just a few months, your face now looks old,
though tears have dried, your heart growing cold.

Dear Young Woman, Please don’t weep,
I pray that tonight you will get some sleep.
I hope tonight he doesn’t come,
and threaten you with one in the chamber from his gun.
Though you have tried many times to leave,
you’re losing hope and no longer believe.
Though you didn’t do the harm, you go t the black eyes
Though you told the truth, you were served a dish of lies
Now looking in the mirror at someone you don’t recognize,
because he tore you down mentally, and constantly criticized.

Dear Young Woman, He’s gone out of your life,
but you miss this monster, whom in your heart, left a knife.
Please my sweet, as I pray for your heart,
Keep it guarded so you don’t fall apart.
Don’t envy the next woman you see him entertain,
He wouldn’t do you right, so you’ll be another’s gain.

Dear Young Woman, beautiful, smart and full of love,
Hold your head high, and you’ll get all you dream of.
He hurt you thru his screams, and sometimes he’d shout
Love does not hurt, or break you, Let that Monster OUT.

“That Day”

open your heart she said unto me,
Give him your love and Get what you need.
Then in return he will provide,
a love within and on the outside.
Be honest; Give him your all,
Be subservient and wait for his call.
then in return u will be his queen,
Be comforting whenever he’s mean.
Tell him your secrets and all your desire:
Give him your heart and light to his fire.
Then in return you will receive
a love no other will ever believe.
Don’t ask questions, she continued to say,
be a good woman, don’t stand in the way.
Then in return he’ll be honest and true,
he’ll feel the freedom and he will love you.
I opened my heart because she said,
I went home one day, she lay in my bed.
Then in return, he kissed her breasts,
my heart shattered inside my chest.
I gave him my love as he made love to her,
as I cried my eyes were a blur.
Then in return they never saw me stand,
I stood and watched my friend with my man.
I was honest and gave him my all,
I came straight home when he didn’t call.
Then in return, he didn’t answer the phone,
I was his comfort, I thought he was alone.
I never asked questions, as I watched them dance bare,
I was a good woman to just stand and stare.
Then in return, I remembered her say,
be the love of his life, don’t stand in the way.
I was in her way of fucking my man
I grasped HARD, to the vase in my hand.

Then in return, I let them be free,
they had no comment when they finally saw me.
I gave to them, the vase that I held,
my heart broke and my soul yelled.
Then in return I clenched my vase,
and smacked the bitch across her face.
I opened my heart as I watched her bleed,
I was quiet; my man thought he could flee.
Then in return I threw him cut glass,
as I sliced his naked black ass.
I was subservient; and didn’t stand in the way,
I had a vase because, he sent roses that day.

“Silence”

“Silence” ©Khalilah Yasmin

Loud as a war or a storm full of thunder,
my life is a maze, I walk asunder.
The lightning speaks with one expression,
to light my way of a future blessing.
Drums overwhelm the beat of my heart,
I can’t hear my moments part.
Monotonous, driving, repetition of insanity,
my aspirations are my only vanity.
Sinful sounds and harmful bass,
I feel vibration upon my face.
I exploded, and fell to my knees,
The clouds above my rock, put me to ease.
Peace filled the skies as silence came..
Slowly blessed me and spoke my name.
He showered me with comfort from this war,
he heard my cry, “I can’t take no more!”
My eyes dried and my heartbeat heard,
his is a messenger, his name a proverb.
Innocence, peace and spiritual things,
my only whisper is what his heart sings.
-Silence fell from the clouds and came up through the wind,
I saw the storm fading as the waters washed in.
Quiet peace, solemn innocence,
the man brought me silence.
